∫ Monthly Update ∫
∫ Written by Pazuzu for DnA ∫
∫ May 11, 1993 ∫
»ÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕÕº
Well, Pholx, we're back with Volume I, Issue 2. This issue will build on
stuff from the last issue, and also introduce new concepts. Our initial
releases are aimed at the beginner, since there's no one else - the experts
are already experts, so what's the point... We want to educate newcomers and
encourage them to get active in the Underground.
In this issue, we are introducing a new group who will be releasing some
articles through DnA Magazine. They figured that with our already
far-reaching distribution, they could reach more people faster than by
trying to build their own distribution. They're called The Sixth Column, and
they gather and distribute information on SERIOUS abuses by Government
agencies, such as the IRS, the NSA, and the CIA. These abuses include: the
whole income tax system (it's BOGUS!), spying on every aspect of our lives,
and more Big Brotherian horrors. Read their articles - they could save you
money, privacy, and maybe even your life!
We are also publishing articles written by several non-members.
Anyone else wishing to have an article published through DnA can submit the
article on DnA Systems or Digital Decay, the numbers are listed at the end of
this article.
The Scam-Of-The-Month Club
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This month's scam is quite illegal and will no doubt get you thrown directly
in prison if you get caught, so please try to avoid getting caught. A few
things are required for this:
[a] A Female Willing To Assist - This may sound strange, but you would be
very surprised at how many females are into scams. In fact, a female invented
this scam. Everyone knows that females are sweet & innocent and would never
commit fraud... ahhahahhahahahahahaaa
[b] A Credit Card Number - Of course...
[c] A Western Union Office In A Bad Part Of Town - Self-explanatory
Anyway, law enforcement likes to call this scam "grand theft" ... It's one of
the few ways you can get cash from a stolen credit card number. What you do
is this: You have the girl go down to the Western Union office in a bad area
of town, where there's a lot of people out on the streets. You have her pick
out a likely guy and give a bogus sob story...
"My boyfriend is an asshole who beats me, and he threw me out of his house.
My Dad wants to wire me money for a plane ticket to go home, but my ID is in
my boyfriend's house, and I can't go back there. I was wondering if my dad
could wire the money to you, and then you could give me the money... We'll
pay you if we have to..."
You should be nearby listening to all this. The person will give one of 3
responses:
[a] "God, what an asshole your boyfriend must be! Sure, I'll help you. You
don't have to pay. I'm glad to help out someone in trouble" - THIS is the
response you want.
[b] "Ok, sure, I'll do it for $25..." - This is OK, take it.
[c] "Sure, but I'm not interested in money, if ya know what I mean..." -
Shoot the guy and bail.
Anyways, you then have her call her "dad", who is actually ANOTHER friend
who's in on the scam, and tell him to wire the money to Mr. Bum (whatever his
name is)... The fool then goes in, gets the money, and you're all set. This
scam has the benefit of being bullet-proof, since you and your female
companion are outside watching the whole time... If any bust goes down, he'll
be the one getting busted. Of course, he'll tell the cops about the girl and
all, but if you've a brain in your head, you and the girl will be long gone,
and the fool will be off to prison.
Notable Systems & Users
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a perfect world, this section would be a 12 megabyte text file in and of
itself. But the world sucks, so we'll have to live with this.
[1] The Outside Plant - 313 - This is a pretty good hack/phreak system run by
a guy by the name of Special Ed. The board is a site for a group called BOC -
Bell Operating Company, and also a node on BOCNet, of which my system is also
a member. The board has a good collection of the standard h/p stuff, as well
as a growing collection of UNIXes. The number should be available all over.
There is no NUP, and the system is running on a 16.8 dual.
[2] Infinite Darkness - 305 - This is a most excellent
warez/hack/phreak/ansi/etc BBS, and is also the world HQ for CyberCrime
International Network. The SysOp, Midnight Sorrow, is quite a cool guy, he
gives out his voice number to everyone over public networks. He also has
plenty of UNIX software on-line, which is quite unusual. The most unusual
thing about ID is that there are around 35 ANSI file directories - 1
(sometimes 2 and 3) for every ANSI group in existence. He also has a good
selection of hack/phreak stuff as well. The system is running a 14.4 HST and
can be reached at 305-766-6065.
[3] The Phrozen Realm - 514 - This is without a doubt the best h/p system
I've seen in recent years. Even the way the SysOp, Mechanix, has the software
set up is unbelievably rad. The system has file directories for ALL the major
(and minor) h/p in the world, even some weird shit you don't see all the time
like Shawn-da-lay-Boy Productions. The message bases are pure hack/phreak,
with excellent quality messages posted in decent quantities every day. For
obvious reasons, I'm not giving out the number or NUP here, but if you do
come across it in your travels, call it.
R0d3nt 0f The M0nth
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This new section will appear in my article more or less every month. I'll try
to pick out a r0d3nt who is truly deservant of this punishment, and if a
month comes by that I can't find one (let's pray it happens all the time!),
this section will not appear.
This month's r0d3nt is an idiot in 714 (where else?) going by the handle of
Grimm. Now, that, in and of itself should give it away. Almost every
christmas modemer in existence uses "Grimm" "Grim" "The Reaper" "Grim
Reaper"... You get the point. This guy is one of those classic fools that use
a 16-line extended ASCII auto-sig on every post, and think they're the
|<-3l1t3s≈ d00d in the world - he even called me a "12 year old christmas
modemer" ... You know, that's actually true. I *WAS* a 12 year old christmas
modemer, only thing is that was 10 years ago. Anyway, if you're a SysOp and
this cl0wn calls your board, be sure and delete him, and if he's on a board
that you're a user on, beg your SysOp to delete the cretin. He's just lucky
that I'm a christmas modemer, and there's no way I could ever possibly get
his voice phone number (714-838-7908) or even his real name (Andrew).
A Cyberspace Fairy Tale
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE: THIS STORY IS PURELY FICTIONAL. ANY SIMILARITIES BETWEEN CHARACTERS IN
THIS STORY AND ANY REAL PERSON LIVING, DEAD, OR UNDEAD IS PURELY COINCIDENTAL
(yeah, sure. the story was only all over the tv news & newspapers for three
whole weeks and even made "a current affair").
A long, long time ago in an area code far, far way there lived a thirteen
year old r0d3nt named Data. Now Data thought he was a c001 d00d, so he put
up a BBS running Telegard v2.5STD. He was a total amateur and so he didn't
customize anything - it was totally stock. Now another modemer, far more
experienced than Data, happened upon this pitiful BBS one hot summer day.
"Wow - another BBS using a Star Trek name" thought Pazuzu to himself (the bbs
was named "The Next Generation"). He took pity on poor Data, and helped him
customize the BBS, until it was pretty rad looking. Then Pazuzu advertised
the BBS for Data all over the world, and soon TNG was a very popular warez
system, and was even a site for CO-OP (which was a union of TDT&TRSI at the
time). And since Data was a spoiled little rich kid, he had a 14.4 modem when
everyone else still had just a 9600 or 2400, which made his board even more
popular among the warezzzZZzz set.
A short time later, Data became a beta site for a new BBS software called
Velocity. Now he thought he was totally k-rad, and he told Pazuzu to fuck
off, and even posted Pazuzu's real name and voice phone number over public
networks. Now Pazuzu wasn't all that happy about this, but he didn't do
anything about it because he didn't want to go to jail. Jail is bad.
Several years passed by, and Pazuzu heard nothing about Data, until one
day he was watching the news on TV, and heard this: "Local Honor Student
Stuart Tay found murdered..."
"Holy Jesus fucking Christ!" said Pazuzu "That fuck finally got it!"
Yes, Data=Stuart Tay, the Orange, California Honors Student who was found
murdered and gained instant national attention. Actually, "murdered" is a bit
too subtle. Actually, he was hit 20 times with a baseball bat, survived that,
then had a bottle of rubbing alcohol poured down his throat, his mouth taped
shut, then was buried alive.
The moral of this tale: Revenge comes in many strange forms, from many
strange sources, and often at strange and unpredictable times, but it ALWAYS
comes. Don't fuck with demons.
{END STORY MODE}
NOTE: I had nothing to do with the murder of Stuart Tay, and in fact I had
forgotten all about him. However, I find it strange that someone who screwed
me over was all of a sudden found murdered in such a lovely way. Kinda makes
ya wonder...
